    I can’t recommend this book enough!

    Journey Back to Eden: My Life and Times Among the Desert Fathers by Fr. Mark Gruber, OSB. West met East when Fr. Gruber decided to write his anthropology dissertation on the Coptic monks and spent 1 year living amongst them in the desert.
