I am not the author, but I believe it is a play on “in persona christi” which means that it is Christ who is acting in the person of the priest or that the priest acts on behalf of Christ. He is not Christ, but stand in his place. Poetically speaking, the priest is an imposter for he stands for Christ but is not Christ. As a sinner, the priest is at best a poor image of Christ. Yet, Christ chooses as his agents those who may represent him poorly. The word imposter sets up the paradoxes which are found in the rest of the couplets.
Took me a few minutes to comprendo this profound writing.
