This scandal is getting bigger and bigger. Bones were removed from graves, and the graves were then re-sold. Initial reports said that perhaps 300 graves were affected. Now it appears that far more remains are missing.
While Emmet Till’s old casket wasn’t treated well, his grave was not disturbed; I guess even grave robbers draw the line at desecrating a martyr’s grave. While it’s true that he isn’t a martyr in the Catholic definition, not having been killed for his religion, I believe that he truly is a martyr as he was targeted due to race and his failure to behave properly for one of his race, in the opinion of his murderers.
Please pray for the friends and families of those who are buried here. I can’t imagine going through this.
