Beatrice de Silva Meneses, holy Portuguese, was born in Ceuta (North Africa) in 1424 into a noble family. Sister of the Blessed Amedeo de Silva, Beatrice was imparentata with the Portuguese royal family. Her beauty and her power, attracted a noble Castilian, which aroused the jealousy of Queen Isabella that the church holds for three days in a cassapanca, placing her at risk of losing her life. Liberated, she took a vow of chastity and part in Toledo. She is told to accompany the voyage are the appearances of St. Francis of Assisi and Saint Anthony of Padua; arrived in Toledo entered the Cistercian monastery of San Domenico, where she lived for about three decades. With the support of Isabel the Catholic, future queen of Spain, who gave Beatrice Palace Galiana in Toledo, with the adjoining church of Santa Fè, founded the religious order of the Immaculate Conception. She died in Toledo on 1 September 1490.

Hello I have found my patroness saint in Beatriz. Finally found each other!
Hi, Heather. I have been researching the Conceptionist order becaue of my interest in Maria of Agreda. Beatrice da Silva was a great beauty and Isabella (mother of Isabel the Catholic) was a very unstable woman. Mental illness was later to be evident in her granddaughter, Juana the Mad, as she was known.
Beatice,in founding the Conceptionist order, had her nuns wearing the already popular scapular of the Immaculate Concention beneath their full-size white scapulars. The scapular later became the emblem of the Theatine nuns founded by Ven. Ursula Benincasa and eventually Confraternity of the Immaculate Conception, presently run by the Marian fathers at the Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, MA. Information is on their website.
